ASUU calls off strike, Government agrees to pay 70bn

The Academic Staff union of universities (ASUU) finally agrees to call of strike after 7th meeting with government on Friday.

The ASUU strike has lasted for 8months which put a halt to all academic activities in Federal Universities.

The consensus was reached by the union on Friday during a meeting with the government team led by Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment.

The government also promised to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion. Previously, government agreed to increase the payment to 60bn.

This decision occured one week after the agreement to the exemption of ASUU from IPPIS.
