FG declares Monday Independence holiday

Federal Government has announced Monday, Oct 2nd, 2023, a public holiday to celebrate the country’s 63rd Independence Day.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, on Thursday, issued a statement on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja, according to a statement by the Secretary of the Ministry.

The Minister gave assurances to Nigerians of the efforts made by President Bola Tinubu-led government to solve the challenges faced by the country.

He said that the socio-economic and security problems are worldwide and not in Nigeria alone.

“Until we can rest, the government is working every day to do everything in its power to address these diverse and numerous challenges,” he said in a statement. Tunji Ojo said the country’s future greatness is achievable if all its citizens unite and work together.

“With our warm welcome and spirit of love, and our infinite human capital and wealth, Nigeria is undeniably one of the world’s leading black nations, the  pride of Africa, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s new beacon of hope  (GCFR).”

“The Minister wished everyone a memorable celebration and urged everyone to live in peace with others regardless of faith, tribe and language, Nigeria was founded to achieve the freedom that we enjoy today.

“In a fitting tribute to the heroes of the past, the Minister pledged that this government would ensure a better Nigeria for all its citizens through the Renew Hope Agenda,” the statement added.
