President Muhammadu Buhari has committed to be in the vanguard of electing Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, as his successor.
Buhari made the vow while launching the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and the presidential candidate’s Action Plan in Abuja on Friday.
President Buhari: I’ll be at the Forefront of Tinubu’s Campaign
He stated that electing Tinubu will cement his administration’s successes since the presidential contender has the potential, visionary leadership, and track record to do more.
According to him ”It would be disastrous to allow a situation that will lead to the reversal of the progress our country has made.
Let me also state that I gladly accept the job of chairman of the campaign council that we are launching today.
“Our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is well-known for his ability and can-do attitude.” He is a Democrat, a defender of the rule of law, a man who feels at home in every region of our country, and a visionary leader.
All you have to do is imagine Lagos in 1999 and 2022! ”I, therefore, want to assure all party members and supporters of our government that I will be at the forefront of this campaign.
Buhari’s words
“This election is even more significant than the one that put us in power in 2015.”
The cost of losing the gains our country has made is much more than the need to stop the hemorrhage that led to our coming together nearly nine years ago.
”I want to charge every member to put in all their efforts during the next four and half months of the campaign to ensure we record a resounding victory in all our elections nationwide.
“We hold the future of this country in our hands,” he remarked. President Buhari emphasized the accomplishments of the APC-led administration.
He noted that Nigeria’s security personnel are better equipped and motivated under his watch.
He went on to say that the triumphs of the Nigerian Armed Forces on the battlefield have resulted in significant and successive operational successes in the drive to safeguard the country and provide adequate security for all people’s lives and property.
“Over the last few years, the efforts of our men and women in the armed forces have begun to bear fruit.”
We are gradually reclaiming our country from foreign-inspired bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists in the northeast and northwest, among other areas.
”We are equally combating separatists, oil thieves, and bandits in the southeast and south-south,
”Our administration remains committed to progressively eliminating all flashpoints of insecurity nationwide.
We would prevail over our country’s enemies, in whatever forms and shapes they may take.”
President Buhari also praised his administration’s infrastructure efforts, declaring that “our commitment to stimulating our nation’s economy through major infrastructural development has not been wasted.”
“Across the country, we are already witnessing unprecedented infrastructure.” As the numerous initiatives are completed and put to use in the following days, the true impact of our work will be felt more strongly.”
The President, who referred to the APC presidential candidate as “the Jagaban, my friend, partner, and brother,” said the event was significant for two reasons.
“The events leading up to and during our Presidential primaries were significant milestones in the growth of our internal democracy and party politics.”
”I must congratulate the leadership of our party, other stakeholders, and the entire party members for the success of the exercise.
We can confidently state that our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is on a steady trajectory toward enthroning a lasting democratic culture in our body polity.”
