Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, was born on April 1st, 1991 in Kaduna State , Nigeria. His mother, who was a cassette store owner, saw to his upbringing.
Owing to his mom’s store, Skales developed an interest in music.
Skales hails from Edo State, Nigeria and is the only child. He was brought up in Kaduna state, Nigeria, and had his primary and secondary schooling there too.
Skales was admitted to the University of Jos and thereafter withdrew from the university.
He continued his tertiary schooling at Lead City University and obtained a degree in Office Management and Technology.
Skales Career and Net Worth
Skales started writing rap songs in the year 2000 while in primary school. He traveled to Jos, Nigeria to work with Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang between 2007 and 2008.
While he was in UNIJOS, Skales participated in the Zain Tru Search Competition at Unijos and emerged as the winner for the North Central region.
Skales released his debut single, “Must Shine.” He then met with Banky W in the year 2009 and thereafter signed a deal with the record label Empire Mates Entertainment.
Following this, Skales released two singles, “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi.”
“Mukulu” got a lot of attention and made him famous. He was among the featured artists in the 2012 EME debut compilation “Empire State of Mind.”
He collaborated with top entertainers like Banky W, Shaydee, Niniyola, and DJ Exclusive on the hit five singles from the album (Baddest Boy, Get Down Tonight, Sun Mo Mo, Ko Mo Lee, and Change).
Skales participated in the EME US tour that started on the 4th of July and ran through the 2nd of September of that same year.
Skales was also an ally to Wizkid during his London tour in 2012.
Skales continued with the EME record label till the expiration of his contract in 2014.
Prior to him leaving, Skales featured with some other artists at the 2013 edition of the Felabration concert.
His departure from the record label prompted him to launch his own label, OHK Music, in May 2014.His record label has affiliations with some other music personnel in the country.
Skales released his debut album “Man of the Year” in 2015. The album had his hit single “Shake Body”, which he released on May 6th, 2014, and yes, it was a successful project.
He went on to release another album in 2017 titled “The Never Say Never Guy.”
Skales’ third album “Mr. Love” was released in 2018, courtesy of his record label OHK Music and Baseline Entertainment.
The album featured top artists like Tiwa Savage, Cassper Nyovest, Vanessa, Teni, Nezo, Harmonize, Mr. Vegas, and many others. The album was dedicated to his mom.
