Zambamari Massacre; What really happened in Borno State?

(Zambamari Massacre) On Saturday 28 November 2020, 43 rice farmers were killed in Borno state Nigeria by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. This is not the only account of murder that has happened in the state within the past few months.

The above figure stated might be much more as some sources claim the death toll were above 100. The terrorists allegedly tied the farmers up and slit their throats with a knife.

The farmers were killed while harvesting their crops at Garin-Kwashebe rice field which is about 20km north of Maidugiri.

2020 has marked the highest level of insecurity in the northern part of Nigeria for the past 10 years. There has been multiple accounts of killings, kidnapping theft and murder. This increased crime rate has brought terror to the northerners and will cause a high level of dependency.

The President, Mohammadu Buhari has expressed his grief on the killings through his spokesman Garba Shehu on twitter. He described the killings as insane and condemned it.
