Healthy Morning Routines for Preparing your Child for School

1. GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP ROUTINE:

A child functions better both mentally and physically when they have had a good night’s sleep.

Ensure they don’t spend the night hours watching cartoons or reading story books(these should be done in the afternoon after they are done with their school homework).  A good night’s sleep help to avoid your child from being slow and disorganized in the morning.

2. PREPARE THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SCHOOL DAY:

For a smooth school morning, planning ahead of time is important.

Encourage your kids to do what they can the night before a school day, and assign responsibilities, such as picking out an outfit for school, tidying up their rooms, getting their essential school requirements ready, and ensuring that their lunches are packed.

Also, ensure your work outfit, and gadgets are ready,  breakfast is planned, and books, homework, and other necessities are packed for school.

When your kids are done and have gone to bed, take a few minutes to cross-check everything to make sure nothing is missing out.

3. WAKE UP EARLY:

Waking up earlier than your child is helpful. It’s a moment to have enough time for yourself to relax, meditate, rejuvenate your positive mindset state, have breakfast, and prepare yourself for work.

When you are done with these, it’s easy to assist your kids when they are up without much stress or sacrificing your routine.

4. ALWAYS BE ORGANIZED:

Despite the night planning you do daily with your child, staying organized will help a long way.

It helps reduce unnecessary stress and to avoid running around the house trying to remember how and where you kept some things that will be needed the next day. Teach your kids to be disciplined in their conduct and how they handle things.

For example, a kid shouldn’t come back from school and fling his/her bag carelessly or drop their shoes or school uniforms absent-mindedly. Create spots, spaces, and cubicles for school supplies, sports gear, coats, etc.

These will help your child to always know where to look for things. Don’t forget to keep your car and door keys, wallets, and important documents in safe and easily accessible places for yourself.

Before leaving the house ensure that all appliances are turned off and doors properly locked.

5. SET UP A GOOD AND LIVELY MOOD:

Children respond well when they are being encouraged which triggers having them do their morning routine in a good mood. Creating a positive mindset for them is healthy and can boost their school performance throughout the whole day.

A merry and lively heart doeth good. This helps bring out the best behaviour in them towards their parents and people they meet.

6. SET UP AN ALARM:

Not every day do we turn out to be energized, some days leave one worn out and exhausted, only to feel relieved in the comfort of your soft bed.

To avoid waking up late and rushing yourself and your child for work and school respectively, setting up an alarm is good to go. It helps to make time more available for you.

In conclusion, with these morning routines mentioned above, being ready for school and work will always be fun and healthy for you and your child. It’s time to get to work and apply these healthy routines to your family.

Cheers
