Mohamed Salah Biography and Early Life

Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghaly, known as “Mohammed Salah” for short, was born on June 15th, 1992. His birth was in Nagrig, Gharbia, Egypt. Owing to his Muslim background, Mohamed and his brother, Nasr, were raised to abide by the Muslim laws and guides.

At age seven, Mohamed developed an interest in football, and this quite meddled with his academics. He always watched the Champions League and followed each game. He even idolized some Arabic professional players.

Just like in every African home, his parents wanted a professional career path for him, but he went against their wish, pursuing his footballing career. Well, was this choice of his the best for him? Let’s find out in the next segment.

Mohamed Salah Career and Net Worth

Mohamed Salah began his football career by joining one of the Egyptian Premier League teams, El Mokawloon. In his debut game with the team, he played as a substitute and, after some goal scoring, he earned a position in the starting 11.

The Egyptian team El Mokawloon couldn’t feature in the 2012 Egyptian League as it was canceled due to the Port Said Stadium riot.

News spread about the suspension and this made the Basel Swiss team offer Salah an opportunity to join the club as they monitored his impressive football skills at his former club.

Mohamed later accepted the offer and signed a four-year deal with the Swiss team in 2012. He played in the Swiss Super League and impressively scored on his debut appearance in the league. During his time with the Basel club, he led the team to a semi-finals appearance against Tottenham.

Mohamed Salah Chelsea and Liverpool deal

Although the team lost to the English team, Chelsea, the Chelsea’s management personnel observed Mohamed’s football striking skills in the Champions League, where Chelsea was grouped with Basel.

This resulted in the Chelsea team signing a transfer fee worth 11 million pounds with the Basel team in 2014. As usual, Mohamed started as a substitute and scored a number of goals, but due to the circumstances surrounding Mohamed at that time, he could not display his football skills.

This raised doubts in Jose Mourinho’s (the then Chelsea coach) mind leading to Mohamed to leave the Chelsea team and join Fiorentina on a loan deal in 2015. He achieved his feat in this team and consistently scored in each match.

Owing to how good Mohamed was, Roma signed a permanent deal worth 15 million euros with him with a time duration of one year. Liverpool saw the great talent and offered a deal worth 42 million euros with Mohamed and some other incentives, which netted the offer to a 50 million euro deal.

Mohamed then scored an incredible goal on his debut at the Watford vs Liverpool match, making him Liverpool’s first Egyptian player to break that record. Due to his incredible performance for the team, Liverpool FC renewed the contract with Mohamed in 2018.

Liverpool won the Premier League trophy after 30 years of losses during his tenure.Mohamed Salah’s impact is also felt on the Egyptian national team as he led the team to the finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Mohamed Salah also earned a place in the CAF Team of the Tournament.
