Verydarkblackman Martins Ose
Written by Robin Okwanma

Arguably there are few countries on the globe, whose social media communities are often literally on fire with commentators compared to Nigeria. And some Nigerians have so excelled in the art of social media criticism and commentary. One such person emerged in 2023 with the Instagram name Verydarkblackman. In fact, he is one of those rare persons who have become celebrities, just for taking a controversial and bold stance.

Verydarkblackman has joined the ranks of well-known Nigerian social media critics – namely Daniel Regha, Kemi Olunloyo, Daddy Freeze, Reno Omokri, amongst others. Albeit with an alluring smile almost always on his face. So who is Verydarkblackman? And how did he become suddenly baptized into the league of viral Instagram influencers and critics? We will take a brief look at the life of Verydarkblackman. The mysterious charm and controversies that surround this newly birthed Nigerian Instagram critic of repute, deserves some probe.

Meet VeryDarkblackman: His Origins

Verydarkblackman is the Instagram handle and nickname of Martins Black Vincent Ose, a Bini man from Edo State. He was born in April 1991. Some sources dispute this birth year, stating that he was actually born in 1996. His father is identified to be Vincent Ose, and his brother Macquinn Otse Vincent. He reportedly has some sisters, though the actual number is not known. Just before this article was produced, he lived in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

He is a Nigerian fitness model, actor, social media influencer, content creator and human rights activist. He also claims to be an NGO worker. He is a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Lagos.

Certain sources claim Martins Black Ose started his career journey as an adult video actor. Some of those videos were reportedly leaked online. The influencer more or less confirmed this claim openly, by stating that he was a sultry dancer in his early days. And that he sold each of his adult dance videos for 1,000 US Dollars to make a living. But he has moved on to nobler ventures.

Verydarkblackman: His Net Worth

Even though the current assets and earnings of Verydarkblackman cannot be verified for sure, a certain online source puts his estimated net worth to be between 10,000 and 50,000 US Dollars.

Verydarkblackman: Controversies Surrounding Him

Martins Black Ose has a distinctively tall, well-built physique, and dark skin. In fact he proudly shows off his physique, often bare-chested or in singlets. Even more surprising is the alluring smile that is almost ever-present on his face. In his posted videos, his mannerisms clearly show that he could make a good actor without faking anything.

In addition, Verydarkblackman is not known to avoid confrontation with other outspoken people. He is willing to take them head on. Even more surprising is his logical reasoning, and his willingness to bring out facts in a case. Neither does he deny facts about himself or others.

The Instagram influencer became particularly prominent following the demise and controversy surrounding the well-known Nigerian singer and rapper Mohbad, in September 2023. When the ‘#JusticeForMohbad’ movement started to spread like wildfire on social media, Verydarkblackman promptly contributed his voice to demand for a thorough investigation.

He was very particular about investigating the innocence or otherwise of late Mohbad’s wife. He joined voices with investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo (and some other persons) to insist on doing a DNA test on Mohbad’s son. And ever since then, the fitness model has continued to post videos and comments on controversial issues on Nigerian social media.

Sometime around September 2023, the CEO of Jennyglow Cosmetics, Jennifer Igbinoba, served Verydarkblackman with a 500 million Naira lawsuit – demanding compensation for damages. The Instagram influencer had called out Jennyglow for selling a product with a fake NAFDAC number to the general public. Consequently, NAFDAC officials proceeded to seal the Jennyglow Abuja shops for a while. The influencer even posted videos of NAFDAC officials sealing the Abuja premises of Jennyglow over the said incident.

In another development, Verydarkblackman had a clash with fiery Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing. He accused the actress of using filters on her skin to promote the Dorindas skincare brand. Nkechi Blessing swiftly responded that the influencer is having financial problems, and lives in a one-room apartment. That response added fuel to their feud.

Yet again, he had another clash with social media personality and self-acclaimed relationship expert, Blessing Okoro (a.k.a BlessingCEO). This followed the report of a tattoo artist who called out BlessingCEO for refusing to pay for a job done. The clash blew out of proportion. It led to BlessingCEO calling Benin girls prostitutes, and inviting a huge backlash from women and ladies in Benin city. Subsequently, the case led to the Nigerian Police inviting Verydarkblackman for questioning, which he refused to honor. The influencer reportedly moved away quietly from his Abuja residence to avoid the Police. BlessingCEO also attempted to expose his trail to Lagos.
