Simi’s Biography and Early life

Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye was born on 19th April 1988 in Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos State. She’s from a family of Oladele Ogunleye, in the southwestern part of Nigeria.

She’s the last child and only girl of her parents. Being the only girl, she always or even had tendencies of being a tomboy. Simi’s parents separated while she was nine.

Simi had her primary, secondary (Stars International College in Ikorodu, Lagos), and university education in Nigeria. She graduated from Covenant University in Ota, Ogun state, with a Bsc honors in Mass Communication.

Simi joined the children’s choir in her home church where she sang and danced. She wrote her first song at age 10.

She grew up in her church’s children’s choir where she sang and danced. She even has a record of writing her first music at the age of 10.

Simi’s Career and Earnings

Simisola began her music career in 2008 after releasing her debut music album “Ogaju”, with songs like “Iya Temi” and “Ara Ile”. She opted for secular music after singing Christian music for a while.

Simi”s style of music is a blend of the rhythm and blues, soul and hip-hop genre of music.

In 2014, Simi released her single “Restless” and this brought her to limelight. “Restless” earned her a record deal with X3M Music.

Two other of her singles “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny”, released 9th January , 2014, received a lot of plays and appraisals even from critics.

One of them, Tiff got nomated in the Headies Awards for two categories one of which is the Best Alternative Song. Its video was directed by Josh Clarke and released on August 30, 2015

Simi also did cover of songs of international artists like Rihanna’s ‘Man down’ and Adele’s ‘Set fire to the rain’. In 2016, Simi released her second album that contained her hit song “Jamb Question” and later remixed it with Falz.

Later on in 27th October, 2016, she released a collabo hit song with Falz titled “Chemistry”, which Oghene Michael of 360Nobs described as an “experiment of the word art”.

She released her third studio album ‘Simisola’ on 8th September, 2017, with two hit singles “Smile for Me” and “Joromi”, got a lot of positive reviews and was number five on the Billboard World Albums chart.

Simi released her third album Omo Charlie Champagne (1) which she dedicated to her late father and released on her birthday, on April 19, 2019.

It was a mix of different genres of music as sentimental ballad, Afropop, Afro-fusion, Afro-soul, R&B, EDM and moombahton. It featured guest vocals like Patoranking, Maleek Berry, Falz, and her husband Adekunle Gold.

There are many more of her songs which she released and has made a hit. Her track “Duduke”, which she released in 2020, was dedicated for her unborn baby, Adejare. The track is now played for expectant moms in Nigerian homes.

She also acted at some point in time and her acting debut was in Kunle Afolayan’s directorial Mokalik. Earlier in 2017, Simisola got an endorsement with Nigerian Telecommunications giant Etisalat and this boosted her net worth.

Simi also bagged another endorsement with popular browser in the Nigerian community named Opera mini after she was named as their brand ambassador. This also is an obvious boost for Simi net worth.
