Mercy Aigbe’s Biography & Early life

Mercy was born on 1st January 1978 in Edo State. Her parents are Pa Aigbe and Mrs. Abisola Grace Owodunni from a town in Benin city. She’s the second out of five children.

Growing up in Lagos, Mercy had her primary schooling in Lagos and obtained her First School Leaving there too. Mercy attended Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School Ikeja, Lagos.

She is an alumnus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, where she obtained an OND in Financial Studies. She also obtained a degree in Theater Arts from the University of Lagos in 2001.

 

Mercy Aigbe’s Career and Earnings

After her graduation, Mercy delved into acting. Mercy started her full-time acting career in the Nigerian movie Industry (Nollywood) in 2001. She attended movie auditions, featured in some soap operas, and played minor roles in movies.

“Ara”, a Yoruba movie directed by Remi Olupo is the movie that brought Mercy to the limelight in 2016. She acts mainly in Yoruba movies and then in some other Nollywood movies. She acted with some other actors and actresses.

Some other movies she’s featured in, are Afefe Ife in 2008, Okanjua in 2008, Atunida Leyi in 2009, Igberaga in 2009, Ihamo in 2009,  Ìpèsè in 2009,  Iró funfun in 2009, Mafisere in 2009, Oju ife in 2009,  77 Bullets in 2017, 200 Million in 2018, and some others.

Mercy has bagged a lot of awards and endorsements owing to her acting career. She signed ambassadorial deals with Elephant Gold Rice in 2014, a one-year deal, signed to be the Prestige Cosmetic brand ambassador in 2015, She won the City People Entertainment Award’s Yoruba Movie Personality of the Year 2015.

Mercy also, signed an endorsement deal with Edalaf Brother limited, an IT solution company in 2016, and so many other endorsement and ambassadorial deals.

Her most recent awards are Nominee for Most Searched Actress at the NET Honours in 2018,  Most Popular Actress nominee at the NET Honours in 2018,  Nominated for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON) in 2018, and Mercy Aigbe Wins Award for Most Popular Actress at the NET Honours – 2019

Mercy also ventured into business to increase her source of income. In 2014, she launched her Mag Diva Boutique, her fashion home. She also has her skincare company called Flawless by Mercy.

It’s admirable how Mercy diversify her sources of income. She also, has her asoebi store, Asoebi Mercy, for top Yoruba weddings. MAG, Mercy’s school of drama was founded in 2016. It offers a 4-years training in acting, script writing, stage management, etc .

There are provisions to meet experienced teachers and instructors that helps build the basics and foundations of the courses. The school provides them with the skills needed to succeed in the Nollywood industry.

She has a very unique style of dressing and is commended for her style of dressing. In the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers award, her dress to the occasion attracted all eyes on her and it made her trend.

Mercy Aigbe has been successful in her on-screen businesses and entrepreneurial ventures. This has resulted to her net worth to be estimated US$1 million. She’s still in the game of making more money and true to that, she hasn’t stopped.
