Who is Seun Osewa?
Sun Osewa’s full name is Oluwaseun Temitope Osewa. He is the owner of Nairaland.com. He was born in Western part of Nigeria, Sango Otta in Ogun state. Seun still lives in that area and probably will continue to live there for years still to come. He is best know for founding Nairaland and has choose to remain off the camera and limelight for years. You could call him an Introvert as compared to famous blogger Linda Ikeji who loves the spot light.
Seun enrolled as a student in the University Of Ile Ife to study electrical engineering in 1998 but dropped out of the school to pursue his programming dream and here he is today.
Even though Seun never mentioned the year he was introduced to the internet it is obvious the year should be between year 1999/2000 as the the full inspiration of coming into the internet business should be around 2002. And he finally crossed into the internet business in the year 2003.

Seun Osewa took inspiration Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg and they both have similar backstories as they both dropped out of school to pursue a web-related dream.
Seun is an Introvert and has very few pictures on his social accounts, you’d expect him to have bough a very nice apartment in one of the best areas in the country. In the contrary, Seun still lives in his home town in Ogun state. He was born into a Christian family but identifies himself as an atheist. Seun depicts a humble and low key attitude and is considered as a very nice guy in his forum.
With the largest African online forum under his control, more than half a million people that depend on his online website to make their day, Seun can easily wield power. But all those appear not to be his style.
A case in point: When he was listed by the organizers of The Future Awards in the controversial “Nigeria’s 100 Best” list, which presented him with an opportunity to dine with the celebrities in Aso Rock (people would pay a fortune for this opportunity), it didn’t even seem to phase him. Rather, he sarcastically commented on a Facebook wall when a criticism of the TFA list was raised, “oh, it’s a good list because I saw my name there”. Oh, he only saw his name there, he didn’t partake in anything – a free ticket to visit Aso rock but he never went. Such is Seun’s abhorrence for fame.

Nairaland’s success didn’t come easy as Seun had to fight off numerous spammers and trolls on the forum everyday. Eventually in 2014, Nairaland suffered a malicious hacker attack, which disabled the site for several days and deleted all the data. In 2012, he also lost Google Adsense revenue due to sexual topics discussed on Nairaland. Since then, he has been selling ads space on its forum. He isn’t your typical loud celebrity and is very quiet and conservative.
