Neymar Biography and Early Life

The Brazilian footballer Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior was born on February 5, 1992. His parents are Neymar Santos Sr. and Nadine da Silva.

Neymar was born in Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Paulo state, Brazil.

Neymar was sporty as a child. He was good at the popular Brazilian futsal and beach ball. It was through constant practice that he sharpened his dribbling and football possession skills.

Neymar Career and Net Worth

Neymar Jr had football roots as his dad was a former football player. Neymar Santos Sr. (Neymar’s dad) saw the football interest in his son and guided him through his football career.

In 2003, Neymar’s family moved to São Vicente to help Neymar grow his skills in the youth team Portuguesa Santista.

Later in 2003, Neymar’s family later relocated to Santos, where he joined Santos FC. He was trained at the youth academy by top football experts like Pele.

In 2011, after several trainings, Neynar led the Santos FC club to victory by earning the Copa Libertadores title.

His football expertise and skills led him to be in the Brazilian national team until he became the second-highest Brazilian goalscorer in history, after Pele.

Neymar made a move to join Barcelona, which he did and signed with the Spanish giants in 2013. Neymar, along with football giants, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, were always victorious in most football leagues.

During his four years in Catalonia, Neymar secured eight trophies, like scoring the final goal at the final games of the 2015 UEFA Champions League.

Neymar’s football skills have led him to stardom and, just like his fellow football professionals, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Luis Suarez, he became the first in history to have an expensive football transfer.

This was when he was brought to the French capital in 2017 by Paris Saint-Germain. Neymar’s commitment and skills have won him 10 trophies at the PSG football club.

Just like every star has some weak moments, Neymar has acquired a lot of injuries in major tournaments like the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and this has reduced his performance on such occasions but still hasn’t reduced his relevance in the football world.

Neymar is among the highest-paid soccer players globally. He’s ranked the fourth-highest paid athlete in the world of sports after Messi, Ronaldo, and Roger Federer (a tennis legend).

Neymar has signed a lot of football contracts, like the one with Santos FC, where he was paid $1.7 million yearly. He then left the club for a while to search for bigger opportunities after rejecting Santos FC’s $20 million contract.

Neymar explored a lot of opportunities and contracts that ran into millions of dollars. For instance, the total cost of his transfer to PSG was about $613 million.

In 2013, Neymar signed a $119 million deal with the Catalan club, earning about $15 million a year.

Neymar earns more than Cristiano Ronaldo owing to his salary and bonuses alone. However, Cristiano bags more endorsement deals than Neymar.

Neymar has signed a lot of business endorsements with top companies like Nike, Puma, etc.

He signed an 11-year deal with Nike (an American sportswear brand). At the expiration of the $105 million deal in 2022, Neymar modeled for the brand rival, Puma.

He earns approximately $16 million per year from endorsement deals. He’s the only footballer that earns a lot of money from non-football ventures.

Neymar has worked with big brands like Red Bull, Beats Electronics, Mastercard, DAZN, Electronic Arts, Volkswagen, Tenys Pé Baruel, Lupo, Ambev, Claro, Unilever, Gillette, Santander, and TCL.

You probably didn’t know that Neymar was an actor, but he sure is. Neymar has featured in movies like XXX: Return of Xande Cage, Os Parcas, and in the 2019 TV show, Money Heist, where he starred as Monje Joao.

Neymar has established a stable source of income for himself and is among the most admirable footballers of recent times.
