Steven Allan Spielberg, born December 18, 1946, had an Orthodox Jewish origin.

His mother (Leah, 97 years) and Dad (Arnold, 100), had nice professions, a restaurateur and concert pianist, and an Engineer respectively. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He’s an elder brother to three girls, Anne, Sue, and Nancy. From 1953 to 1957, he had his schooling in a Hebrew school in Haddon Township, New Jersey.

He had a lot of Jewish schooling like his Mitzvah ceremony at 13.

In  1957, his family moved to Phoneix, Arizona. Every Saturday, he watched films at the local theatre.

Some films that influenced him then were Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956), Akira Kurosawa films, Captains Courageous (1937), Pinocchio (1940), and David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

He regards them as “the film that set me on my journey”.

He continued his education at Arcadia High School in 1961 for three years. Moving to California, he attended Saratoga High School and graduated in 1965.

Following his parent’s divorce, he moved to Los Angeles to stay with his father and his sisters remained with their mother in California.

His interest in filmmaking affected that of academics.

He then got admitted into the California State University, Long Beach, and studied filmmaking.

He made his first home movie (Lionel trains) in his twelfth year. In 1958, he made a nine-minute film (The Last Gunfight), thus earning a merit badge and joining the Boy Scouts. He earned the rank of an Eagle Scout.

From making a nine-minute film, he progressed to making a 40-minute film with the title Escape to Nowhere casting his classmates. ‘Escape to Nowhere’ won the first prize in the statewide competition.

At age 13, Spielberg made a 40-minute war film, titled Escape to Nowhere, with a cast of school classmates.

The film won first prize in a statewide competition. His dedication at his teenage age helped him make about 20 8mm ‘adventure’ films.

It was in 1963, that he wrote his first-ever 140-minute science fiction named Firelight. This inspired the making of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and his father funded about $600 for its making.

In 1964, He worked in the editorial department of Universal Studios as an assistant. He succeeded in producing dozens of famous movies. The Transformers series is one of the movies he directed alongside Michael Bay.

The Universal production allowed him to write and direct a 26-minute, 35mm Amblin for theatres in 1968.

He earned a seven-year contract for directing. This followed his dropout. He was the youngest director to get a long-term contract for directing in a major Hollywood studio.

His movie The Raiders of the Lost Ark’, turned the Indiana series and realized about $2 billion, both in merchandising and licensing deals.

The Indiana series and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull films grossly earned about $790.

So many other of his productions have earned so many millions of dollars. His movie ‘Duel’ in 1971 was the first ever summer successful film that earned about $472 million at a nine million dollar input.

He directed some major TV series like Marcus Welby, M.D., The Name of the Game (“L.A. 2017”), Columbo, Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law and The Psychiatrist.

His debut was in1994, in the theatrical film “The Sugarland Express”,  a biopic story.

He had some other disappointments in the industry but wisely engaged in billion-dollar franchises. He earns an average of  $150 million to 250 million dollars and his net worth is 3.7 billion USD

He’s the most successful director of all time and his archetypes have earned a lot of fortune for him.
