Yung6ix Biography and Early Life

Onome Onokohwomo popularly known as Yung6ix was  born on July 8, 1989 in Nigeria.

Yung6ix is the eldest child in the family of five. Although, there’s no much details about his parents and childhood,  but information shows he had an educational background.

Growing up in Warri, Delta State, Yung6ix attended FGC Warri where he joined the music group G-Squad .

Yung6ix moved to western Nigeria and attended  Oduduwa University, a private University in Lagos and there bagged a degree.

 

Yung6ix Career and Net Worth

Onome got the nickname “Yung6ix” from “6xity”, his nickname in secondary school.

Not too long, he relocated to Lagos and there he completed his song “I’m an African.” The song was recognised by A&R Gbemi Ereku.

They signed Yung6ix into record label 411 Entertainment Company in 2009.

Yung6ix gained popularity after he did the cover of “Oleku” in 2010. It was a hit song then and was widespread in the internet.

Yung6ix and P. Fizzy released the collabo song “So Far Gone.” Yung6ix did a freestyle to Wiz Khalifa’song “This Plane.”

Yung6ix released another music video titled “Plenty Money” in January 2011. The song gained popularity and premiered official on the radio statio, Beat 99.9 FM.

That same 2011, Yung6ix released his single “Oh My Gosh.”  He then released his debut album “Green Light Green” in 2011.

The album slated a little time before it was released on 26th December 2011. A year later, Yung6ix released the music video of his song “Oh My Gosh.”

Yung6ix revealed in an interview with blogger Ogaga that he would soon release another album titled “6ix O’clock.”

Yung6ixgot featured alongside some rappers in M.I’s illegal Music and got the nickname “King of the South” too.

Yung6ix has been recognized and awarded for his excellent performance. Yung6ix got nominated at the 2012 Nigerian Entertainment Awards for the “Most Promising Act.”

Yung6ix featured in Wizkid’s “Follow Me.” His song “Oh My Gosh” got nominated twice at the Headies Award. Firstly for “Lyricist on the Roll” and “Best Rap Single.”

Yung6ix’s “First Class” was nominated as the Best Hip-Hop video at the a Nigerian Music Video Award.

Yung6ix has done so well and it’s not wrong to say “He’s really talented.”
