He is sometimes perceived as eccentric, and is a feminist in principle. Again, he is seriously guarded about his private life. But do not be deceived – Moshood Fattah is a skilled Nigerian actor, playwright and model who has come of age.

 

Moshood Fattah shot into national and international recognition, following his casting role alongside co-actor Mike Afolarin in the Netflix series ‘Far From Home’. We will be discussing how the skilled actor developed over the years to become a well-known face in Nigeria’s movie and theater industries. Moshood Fattah is one of the latest acting geniuses to join Nollywood. And he is definitely one of the African creatives to watch out for in the 21st Century.  

About Moshood Fattah: A Quick Look Into His Origins

Born in February 1991, Moshood Fattah is a fast-rising Nigerian actor (both on-screen and stage), a professional model, environmental protection enthusiast, and playwright.

Moshood Fattah is the only child of his parents – a Yoruba couple who are Muslims. He was born and raised in Lagos as a Muslim. However, Moshood himself revealed in a recent interview that he is presently a Christian – a Roman Catholic worshiper.   

The actor reportedly attended a leading private nursery and primary school (which is not disclosed). Thereafter, he proceeded to attend a top public secondary school (also undisclosed). However, Moshood Fattah graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin in 2013. And in 2016, he obtained a Masters degree in Acting from the University of Lagos.

Moshood Fattah: His Childhood Passion for Acting

The talented actor began showing interest in acting while he was yet a child. That started right from his primary school days. Moshood Fattah acted in school plays in his primary school. He continued in the same spirit in secondary school, and joined the school’s theater society. His passion for acting continued to grow with every Nigerian film, TV show, and famous Nollywood actor he saw over the years. He eventually received inspiration to become a Nollywood actor himself. 

Moshood Fattah’s Journey Into The Acting World

Following his admission to the University of Ilorin, Moshood joined a theater group. Thus, he was able to participate in several plays on campus. After completing his undergraduate studies, he debuted his acting career in 2015. He took up the lead role of Gwanza in the theater play ‘Spirit of David the Musical’, that same 2015. Moshood co-starred with the likes of Yinka Davies, Victor Olaotan, and Kalu Ifeagwu

Moshood also featured wonderfully in the play ‘The Butcher and the Bridge’ in 2016. That same year, he did an autobiographical performance in the play ‘Sad Pink’ (sponsored by the British Council). ‘Sad Pink’ was one of the curated plays for the Lagos Theater Festival of 2016. Before the year 2016 came to an end, Moshood featured in another theater musical titled ‘Heartbeat’, which was staged at the MUSON Center in Onikan, Lagos. ‘Heartbeat’ was produced by Lufado Productions (owned by veteran Nigerian thespians and couple, Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva). 

Later on, Moshood found a job as a performing artist in 2017 at Terra Kulture (in Lagos). And of course his acting roles were not limited by the engagement. He played the role of Detective Babankowa in the musical play ‘Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’ (produced by Bolanle Austen Peters Productions). The play was originally staged in Lagos. The musical became such a huge success that it was repeatedly staged in other locations such as Abuja, South Africa and Egypt. Repeat performances were reportedly scheduled for the year 2019. 

In all, Moshood Fattah has featured in a number of key stage acting roles right from 2015. These roles have exceeded 14 of the biggest musical plays in Lagos. Beyond this, Moshood has also taken up acting roles in a number of short films produced in Lagos. 

He was a guest actor in the popular Africa Magic Family series ‘The Johnsons’. He played the lead role of arrogant writer, Jeffery Jaja in a 2019 short film titled ‘And the Winner Is ….’. The latter film won the Outstanding Short Film Award at the 16th Abuja International Film Festival.  In 2020, he took up the role of a supporting actor in the short film ‘Fishbone’ (which featured co-actors Shaffy Bello and Daniel Etim-Effiong). He also wrote and directed two short films namely ‘Acid Test’ and ‘Rage Age’.

Moshood has co-starred with ace Nigerian actors and actresses in the course of his acting career. It includes the likes of Yinka Davies, Femi Branch, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde, Mercy Aigbe, Shaffy Bello, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Wale Ojo, Funke Akindele, and a host of others.

Not much is known about Moshood Fattah’s love life. However, he is rumoured to be in a serious relationship. He is also keenly interested in climate change and environmental issues.
