DJ Cuppy’s Biography and Early Life

Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola was born on 11th November 1992 in Lagos, Nigeria. Her Father (Femi Otedola) is a well-known and great businessman in Africa and he’s listed among the wealthiest on the continent. She’s the first child with three other siblings, Temi, Fewa, and Christine.

DJ Cuppy had her primary education in Ilupeju and her secondary school at Grange School, Ikeja. She moved to London at 13 years old. There she cleared her GCSEs and A-Levels.

DJ Cuppy graduated with a degree in business and economics in July 2014 from King’s College London She graduated from King’s College London in July 2014, with a degree in business and economics. She also earned a master’s degree in the music business from New York University in 2015.

Florence’s stage name DJ Cuppy was fully recognized as she began her music career. DJ Cuppy began her DJ path in 2014 as she featured in the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban as the resident DJ. Cuppy also played at the Tatler and Christie’s Art Ball in London.

She was seen mixing at the Financial Times Luxury Summit in Mexico City. Her debut compilation, House of Cuppy, was released in July 2014 and launched on September 2, 2014.

Cuppy produced EDM-Esque remixes of songs by leading Afropop artists in her compilation. She launched her London-based music management and content production business, Red Velvet Music Group within the same year.

Cuppy was featured on the Guardian’s cover page in January 2015. This was to celebrate a new generation of African women. She was the first African to perform at the 2015 Oil Barons Charity event in Dubai and was named the Official DJ for the event

Forbes Woman Africa also featured her in the April/May edition. Cuppy released House of Cuppy II in June 2015. Cuppy began her tour project, “Cuppy Takes Africa”, where she traveled to 8 cities in Africa.

They include Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and South Africa. The tour comprised performances, major artist collaborations, and charitable engagements. GTB Bank and the Dangote Foundation were the sponsors and the tour aired on Fox Life Africa in an 8-episode documentary series.

To boost her experNonini’s she interned at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. In the year 2017, Cuppy produced most of her songs and her debut single along with Nigerian singer Tekno, titled  Green Light.

She went on and on to release some other of her singles that featured different artists. Her sixth single “Gelato” featured Zlatan and was a hit.

On August 2020, Cuppy released her debut Album, “Original Copy”.

Cuppy partnered with the Apple Music to launch the first radio show in Africa. In February 2021, she partnered with AppleCuppy’sc to launch the first radio show in Africa. Her Afrobeats and electro house mix is not just within Nigeria, but also worldwide.

Cuppy received ambassadorial appointments since 2018 from notable brand like Pepsi, the Global Citizen Education, Samsung, Save Children UK, Tiger beer, and so many others

Owing to her father’s wealth and music career, Cuppy owns assets like a Ferrari Portofino,worth over N75 million, a Mercedes-Benz G550 G-Class, Rolls Royce Phantom worth a whopping N162 million, Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren which goes for N250 million, and 2018 Range Rover sports worth N27 million.
