Falz’s Early Life And Biography

Folarin Falana was born on October 27, 1990, in Nigeria to Femi Falana, a lawyer and human activist, and Funmi Falana, a lawyer and women’s rights activist. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to a middle-class family.

Falz, also chose the part of his parents and studied law and graduated from the Nigeria Law School, Abuja. He was called to a bar in 2012. He, however, didn’t choose his career part as a profession instead he choose singing.

Falz’s Career and Earnings

In 2009, Falz released his first mixtape, “Shakara”. It was a commendable and impressive work of art he delivered and everyone saw his potential in singing and rapping. His stage name is known as BNXN, Buju, and Falz

Fall officially started his musical career in 2011, by releasing his rapping video “Wapuz Guy” and again, a lot were impressed with the music.  This song brought him into the limelight and made him known.

It was also in 2011, that he had his debut stage performance. He didn’t relent and still went on to release two other songs, “Currency” and “High Class”. These songs were successful too.

Falz was included on tooXclusive’s “Artists To Watch” on January 2nd, 2014 and it wasn’t just an assumption but now a reality. He released his debut studio album, ‘Wazup Guy’ on 30 May 2014.

The album is an 18-track album that had guest appearances from Olamide, Show Dem Camp, Phenom, and Yemi Alade. In 2015, he published a lot of songs like Marry Me (A collabo with Poe and Yemi Alade), Ello Bae, Stories that touch, etc.

Each of these songs was appraised and successful. “Marry me” was nominated for the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards’ Best Collaboration of the Year. He also got nominated for two awards at the Grammies, “Best Rap Act of the Year” and “Best New Act to watch”.

Falz’s single, “Ello Bae” got him nominated for the “Best Street Hop Artiste of The Year” at the 2015 The Headies awards. He also is an actor and featured as Segun in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa Diary. This earned him an award as “Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series”  at the 2016 edition of Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

At the BET awards in June 2016, he won the “Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act.” Falz released a collabo with Simi titled “Chemistry” in 2016. They also sang some other songs like “Jamb Question” and “Soldier”.

His album 27, was released on his 27th birthday on October 27th, 2017.  This contained some hit songs like “Bhad Baddo Baddest” and “Wehdone sir”.  The album got so many appraisals and was nominated for The Headies and Grammy Awards. For the Grammies, his album was nominated for “The Rap Album of the Year”

Falz’s “This is Nigeria”, released in May 2018, was influenced by Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”. In this song, corrupt practices and other bad vices were listed. The song was banned by NBC (National Broadcasting Commission) as they claimed it was filthy. Falz however, sued them for N100 million.

Falz played Quam in Tope Oshin Ogun’s film New Money and he was named “Best Supporting Actor” at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards on September 1, 2018. He is the first to win the AMVC awards for two separate reasons.

Falz also features in many top Nigerian movies like Couple of days, Tinsel, New Money, Merry Men, The Real Yoruba Demons, Chief Daddy, Muna, Your Excellency, etc. This has put him at the top of his game in his acting career.
