Who is Seyi Vibez? (His Origins)
Afolabi Oluwaseyi Balogun (a.k.a. Seyi Vibez) is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and singer. He is widely acclaimed to be born in July 2000 (according to some online sources). However, certain sources dispute this birth year. Some sources state categorically that he was born in July 1990; another one puts it in 1995. He is an indigene of Ogun state, southwest Nigeria.
Seyi was born into a Muslim family; however, he is said to be a Christian at present. His father is a plumber, and his mother was into petty trading. He was born in Ketu, but later moved to Ikorodu area (both in Lagos) where he grew up as a teenager.
Seyi attended As-Sodiq Primary School in Ketu-Lagos, from where he proceeded to Skylight Secondary School in Ikorodu-Lagos. He is now a graduate of Sociology from the Lagos State University, Ojo-Lagos.

Seyi Vibez started fairly early in life to pursue his passion for music. In 2017, the singer released his debut song titled ‘Ire’; and another single titled ‘For You’. In 2019, he released the song ‘Anybody’ But in 2021, Seyi Vibez released his single hit song tagged ‘Godsent’, which became a big success. The year 2021 marked his breakthrough year. Four tracks from the EP became top songs on TurnTable Top 10 Chart; and the EP itself reached over 6.3 million streams in the first week of release. The Pan African Music platform promptly declared ‘Memory Card’ as one of the best 10 albums of January 2023.
Seyi Vibez also featured in popular Nigerian music artist, Zlatan Ibile’s song ‘Let There Be Light’ (released in February 2023). The song propelled to number 14 on Apple Music Top 100 Nigeria Chart. The year 2023 was crowned with another win for Seyi Vibez in September. He won ‘The Best Street-Hop Artiste’ award at the 16th Headies for his song ‘Chance (Na Ham)’.
